Driven by both top-down and bottom-up forces, industrial cybersecurity has become an urgent initiative in many different industries. On one hand, the growing number of cybersecurity incidents and cyberattacks on critical public infrastructure, such as power substations, oil and gas pipelines, and water treatment plants, has prompted governments around the world to implement new laws and regulations that demand stronger industrial network security. 

On the other hand, with the emergence and rapid growth of IIoT, Industry 4.0, and Smart Factory, an increasing number of manufacturing enterprises are now embracing the so-called digital transformation by creating the OT/IT interface and are also realizing that they are no longer immune to cyberattacks. They are taking matters into their own hands to address potential cybersecurity risks on their networks making network security a growing concern of most OT operators due to lack of sufficient IT security expertise. The cybersecurity landscape is constantly changing and goes far beyond blocking the spread of worms or unauthorized PLC commands.
